Online Entry Form for Labor Arts Contest

 
 
  • Only one entry per student
  • Entries will be judged according to originality, content, and style by an impartial panel of CUNY faculty
  • Poetry, non-fiction and fiction entries require an image related to the themes in the writing
  • Poetry, non-fiction and fiction entries should have a title page that includes - Title of the entry, your name, jpg of the image you have chosen, title of the image, date of image, and name of photographer / artist if known.
  • Poetry entries should be single-spaced; there is no page limit
  • Non-fiction and fiction entries shall not exceed 25 pages (double-spaced, 1 inch margins, 12 point font)
  • Visual Arts entries should clearly demonstrate both a concept and technical proficiency. Poor documentation, incorrect file sizes, lack of an expressive statement, and/or failure to follow directions will disqualify your entry.
  • Winning entries will be published on the Labor Arts website (http://www.laborarts.org/)
  • Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony in early 2024.

All written entries must be accompanied by an image related to the themes in the writing.

Title of your file should be Title of your entry.
The entry itself must have a TITLE PAGE with includes a thumbnail of the image you have chosen with associated information (Title of Image, date of image (if available), name of artist/photographer (if available).

All Visual Arts entries must be accompanied by an artist statement.
The image must be in .jpg format, 1200 pixels in the longest dimension at 72 dpi.
The title of your file must be the title of your entry.

A brief (100-250 word) statement explaining how the work shares the Labor Arts spirit. The statement must also include information about the medium (painting, collage, sculpture, etc) and the artistic tradition in which you are working.
