THEA 3104 Theater for Social Change

4 hours; 4 credits

Theater for Social Change introduces students to the creative processes and performance techniques that engage theater towards positive social change. Students learn theatrical tools and methods to address issues pertinent to their own lives and communities, as well as more global and environmental concerns. The course focuses on students as leaders empowered to harness theater for social change by drawing upon creative methods and nonviolent action, community building and intergroup dialogue, and traditional and interactive performance strategies.

Prerequisite: Theater 2103, and permission of the undergraduate deputy
