SEED 7549X Theater in the Classroom

30 hours plus field experience; 3 credits

Theater work in classroom settings. Existing models of theater arts in education. Using theater, improvisation and creative drama to explore specialized subject areas and pedagogy. Practical studio work. The classroom as theater. Collaboration of education and theater students on theater in education projects, including workshops in focus schools. Mainstage and outside productions. Visits to area public schools. Creation of age-appropriate theater study guides. (This course is the same as Theater 7141X.) Not open to students who have taken EDUC 7549X

Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor and the chairperson or deputy of the Department of Secondary Education.
