SEED 4401 Seminar on Practice of Teaching, Student Teaching

2 hours; 5 hours of field experience; 2 credits

Application of prerequisite coursework in the school setting. Curriculum construction, evaluation, and materials and resources aligned with state and national standards and applied to teaching specific subject areas at grade levels appropriate for state certification requirements; development of self-reflective teaching styles and assessment procedures to address the learning needs of a diverse student population, students with special needs, and English language learners, and of strategies for teaching with technology. Students enroll in safety education workshops in identifying, reporting, and responding to child abuse and violence prevention, and in substance abuse, fire and arson prevention. Support development of portfolio and requirements for state certification.

Prerequisites: Secondary Education 2001, 2002, 3401, 3456 and 3402 and approval of the head of the program in English education. Corequisites: Secondary Education 4407, or 4408, or 4409, or 4411, or 4481; and 4482.
