Study of major developments of Jewish culture, tradition, and history from the medieval period to the early Twentieth Century. Transformations and continuities in traditional Jewish life. Sabbatianism. Hasidism. Haskalah. Zionism. Emergence of Reform and Conservative movements.

Prerequisite: English 1012 or equivalent.
