Narratives of Black Atlantic history on films from Africa, the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean, juxtaposed with scholarly works and archival documents on three topics: slavery and emancipation; decolonization and civil rights; and migrations and immigration. Study of history as a tool of mastery and resistance in the politics of representation; analysis of the relationship among history, memory, and the performative arts.
