GSCI 3050 Natural Science in Education 2 hour lecture, 2 hours laboratory; 3 credits A general inquiry-based science study of basic principles, laboratory and field activities in Natural Science phenomena. Includes diverse topics from ecology, geology, physics, chemistry, biology and astronomy, such as properties of matter, weather, and biodiversity. Taught in coordination with Childhood and Special Education 3207 or Early Childhood and Art Education 3107. Emphasis on active, experiential, inquiry-based experiences and independent and group learning. Science investigations selected based on local and national science education Standards. Students create educational materials on natural science studies. Includes field trips.
