ENGL 3287 Aspects of Fiction

4 credits; 4 hours

A study of the novel and short story from various perspectives; history of the forms; elements of construction?plot, character, point of view, time; literary influences; social, political, and cultural issues of class, race, gender, etc. Emphasis varies by semester and interests of the instructor. Wherever appropriate, readings to be chosen from among a diverse group of writers. Fulfills Breadth and Depth Area Studies B requirement: Genre, Thematic Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies.

Prerequisite: ENGL 1010 [1 or 1.7] Prerequisite or corequisite: ENGL 1012 [2]
