English poetry from Wyatt through Shakespeare's sonnets; English prose from Thomas More through Richard Hooker. Possible subjects include: love and courtship; gender and sexuality; religion; utopia and political satire; exploration and travel narratives; race and colonialism.

Prerequisite: ENGL 1010; or corequisite ENGL. 1012.
