Works read in Middle English: The Canterbury Tales; The House of Fame; Troilus and Criseyde; Chaucer?s shorter works. Their relation to medieval literature; modern adaptations. Possible themes include: courtly love and gender and sexuality; animals and the environment; race and racialization.

Prerequisite: ENGL 1010; or corequisite ENGL. 1012.
