Introduction to East European Jewish culture through Yiddish short stories in translation. Selected works by a variety of authors, including Shalom Aleichem, Isaac Leib Peretz, Shalom Asch, Isaac Bashevis Singer, Itzik Manger, Kadya Molodowsky, Esther Kreitman, and Miriam Ulinower, among others. This course is the same as Judaic Studies 3624. Not open to students who have completed JUST 2537.

Prerequisite: English 1010 [1] or 1.7.
