CISC 7704X Data Mining and Applied Machine Learning for Business Analytics I
45 hours; 3 credits
An introduction to data mining and applied machine learning for business analytics. The course introduces students to industry standard tools and techniques for analysis such as Python and essential Python libraries such as Numpy, Scipy, Matplotlib, Pandas, and scikit-learn. Students learn to wrangle, explore, and visualize data. They learn techniques for data reduction. The course introduces students to prediction and classification methods such as multiple linear regression, logistic regression,
discriminant analysis, k-Nearest Neighbors, Bayes classifier, neural nets, and classification trees. Contemporary challenges and issues for managers are presented. This course is the same as BUSN 7283. (Not open to students who have completed BUSN 7283.)
Prerequisites: BUSN 7278X, BUSN 7280X (Data Analysis I & II)
