WGST 3430 Memory, Gender, and Violence in Latin American Society

3 hours; 3 credits

Examination of memory accounts and testimonies from survivors of political and gender violence and genocide. Truth Commissions from the selected countries will be read as well as the state archives of human rights crimes, and compared to the individual narratives. The impact of neoliberalism as a global economic model and culture will be analyzed in relation to authoritarianism and social inequity. This course is the same as MLAN 3560.

Prerequisite: English 1010 or permission of the chairperson.
