SPCL 7950X Introduction to Play Therapy
45 hours, 3 credits
This course is an introduction to the basic concepts of child-centered play therapy. Students will learn the attitudes and skills necessary to establish and maintain facilitative relationships with children that encourage their self-expression and facilitate change. This course will examine the role of the play therapist and the critical importance of the therapeutic relationship.
This course will also provide an overview and critical analysis of the history of play therapy. This course uses case material to study multiple theoretical and applied approaches with a diverse child population.
