SPCL 3450 Assessment for Instruction

3 hours; 3 credits

Introduction to assessment and evaluation of students with special needs with an emphasis on use of formal and informal strategies. Attention will be given to understanding cultural, linguistic, and societal factors involved in identification through a culturally sustaining framework, placement and the academic and behavioral performance of students. Focus on curriculum-based assessment, empirically-valid assessments, and the use of assessment results to inform practice and collaboration with other professionals and parents. 20 hours of field experiences.

Prerequisite: SPCL 3250, SPCL 3350
