SOCY 2600 Gender and Society 3 hours; 3 credits Gender as a system of inequality that shapes social life and the distribution of resources and privilege. Particular attention to gender as a social construct and the real consequences of gender in different social institutions such as the workplace, family, and schools. Discussion of movements for gender equality. This course is the same as Women's and Gender Studies 3420. Prerequisite: SOCY *1101 [5] or SOCY 1200 or SOCY 1201 or permission of the chairperson.
