SEED 4415 Comprehensive Student Teaching - Physical Education

Minimum of 300 hours student teaching; 7 credits

Capstone course with minimum of 70 days student teaching requiring Physical Education Teacher Education students to participate in a semester-long student teaching experience of supervised teaching of developmentally appropriate physical education. Content includes methods of instruction and lesson planning, curriculum development and assessment, instructional planning, and multiple research-validated instructional strategies for teaching students within the full range of abilities -- and skill in designing and offering differentiated instruction that enhances the learning of all students in physical education. Students will discuss classroom management, backwards design, and developing school-community relationships; analysis of New York State curriculum, and local and national reflective teaching practices and assessment procedures. Attention given to integrating technology into the teaching and learning process. Students will develop skills to engage in the process of meeting NY State certification requirements including TPA. (Not open to students who have completed KINS 4412.)

Prerequisites: Declared Physical Education major, minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA Corequisites: SEED 4414, 4541
