PSYC 4800 Field Experience in Mental Health and Adult Psychology

2 hours lecture, 6 hours supervised fieldwork; 4 credits

Students observe and participate in the techniques of psychological treatment and increase knowledge of how psychological theories and models are applied in the field. Students spend six hours per week in an approved field placement, such as hospitals, mental health clinics, and community centers, that provides mental health services. Students attend weekly class meetings and complete related academic work. This course was formerly named Field Experience in Psychopathology.

Prerequisite: Psychology 2810; and Psychology 3810 or 3820 or 3830; and permission of the chairperson. Course application is required and can be obtained in the department office before registration.
