MVMT 1080 Introduction to Gentle Yoga and Meditative Writing

2 hours, 2 credits

This class introduces students to a gentle yoga practice followed by meditative writing in each session. Writing prompts will guide self-exploration through topics like attention, breathing, thoughts and the mind, focus, releasing and relaxing, self-compassion, and authenticity. The course is an opportunity to experience the benefits of yoga and learn about its philosophical and physiological significance as an accessible, trauma informed, equitable, healing and community centered practice. In addition, a series of accompanying writing assignments are designed to deepen personal reflection and the impact of yoga and other well-being practices conducive to being more present, connected and at ease.
