FINC 5350 Financial Institutions Management

3 hours; 3 credits

This course will focus on the financial management and regulation of financial institutions, with a primary focus on commercial banks. Students will be exposed to various forms of risk facing financial institutions and the trade-offs required to balance risks and returns. The course will incorporate modern techniques for asset, liability and risk management. An emphasis will be placed on regulatory issues of capital adequacy and risk management and the impact of the issues on the stability of the financial system. Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to measure and manage various risks faced by large financial institutions.
