ECAE 7102T Foundations of Early Childhood, Early Childhood Bilingual and Early Childhood Special Education
45 hours; 3 credits
Interdisciplinary analysis of the foundations of early childhood education, multicultural
and bilingual education, and special education; impact of political, economic, social,
cultural, and technological changes in the fields of early childhood education, including
bilingual and special education. We will examine changing views in curricular,
pedagogic, and policy implications for teaching linguistically and culturally diverse young
children with and without special needs, including children with autism; comparative
studies of early childhood education in a global context, with special emphasis on urban
settings, integrated co-teaching and collaboration with peers, families and communities.
Prerequisite: Matriculation for the M.S.Ed. in Early Childhood Education or permission of the graduate deputy.
