CBSE 7386T Literacy Education: Communication
45 hours lecture; 3 credits
Analysis of recent research findings in language acquisition and in the development and use of verbal and nonverbal communication skills from birth to grade 6. The influence of group membership and cultural pluralism on the development of these skills with special attention to the bi-dialectal child and the English language learner. Analysis of the implications for literacy education, wtih emphasis on media literacy and new literacies.
