CASD 4627 Dark Side of Communication 3 hours, 3 credits Explores the dark side of communication. Examines the many ways in which aversive and problematic communication operates across a variety of personal, intercultural, and organizational relationship contexts. Topics include deception, shame, hurtful transgressions, conflict, infidelity, teasing and bullying, verbal abuse, trolling and online stalking or intimidation, avoidance and secrets. A research-based approach to understanding these undesirable yet very common communicative messages.
