AMST 3402 American Folklore 4 hours; 4 credits Myths, legends, tales, proverbs, riddles, songs, dances, beliefs, rituals, celebrations, and folk art of American folk groups. Ethnic, regional, and occupational folklore. The relationship of oral folk culture to popular expression and written literature. Independent work in collecting folklore. This course is the same as English 3157. Prerequisite: one of the following: English 1010 [1], or 1.2, or 1.7.
