ARTD 3097 History of Graphic Design

3 hours, 3 credits

Introduction to the broad stylistic movements common to graphic design in the Americas and Europe. Investigation of stylistic and technological breakthroughs, diverse cultural functions, and theoretical concepts that underlie critical definitions of graphic design in these continents. Interrogation and reconsideration of the traditional art history canon to address lacunae in the field relating to race and gender.
