ARTD 3096 History of Comic Art 3 hours, 3 credits Introduction to the sociopolitical and aesthetic history of comic books from DC & Marvel Comics to Manga. Consideration of a spectrum of comic-art forms, including the newspaper strip, the comic book, the graphic novel, and a variety of modes and genres. Examination of comic art alongside archival material and historical interpretation to further analyze stories of war, propaganda, civil rights, and escapism.
