Demographic and political trends of Latinxs in the United States and the impact on Puerto Ricans. Education, labor organizations, public services, economic development, political power, and future challenges to Latinxs. Latinx LGBTQ+, feminist and Afro-Latinx struggles in the U.S. Alternatives for Puerto Ricans in a Caribbean context and the impact of a change in political status of the island upon Puerto Ricans in the United States.

Prerequisite: completion of at least six credits in Puerto Rican and Latino Studies courses or departmental permission.
