Brooklyn College Parking Application |
Brooklyn College Auxiliary Services, with the Office of Public Safety, is responsible
for the execution and enforcement of our campus-parking program,
which will include the registration of all faculty, staff and student vehicles,
and the enforcement of parking and traffic regulations.
Parking permits are no longer affixed to your vehicle; instead, the permit will be in the form of a hangtag.
You are no longer required to purchase an "A" and "B" permit
as the hangtag will be transferable to all vehicles registered (with Brooklyn College) under the authorized holder's name.
**The college is not responsible for any loss or damage to vehicles or property incurred while vehicles are in designated parking areas.
Parking access is offered on a space-available basis; it is not guaranteed. **

SURRENDER
The hangtag remains the property of the college and must be surrendered upon demand of responsible college officials,
including, but not limited to, the staff of Brooklyn College Auxiliary Services,

Upon confirmation of identification, a receipt will be issued to the authorized owner of the surrendered permit.

REVOCATION
The college reserves the right to revoke any permit if it is,

LOST HANGTAG
In order to replace a lost hangtag, the permit holder must:
1) file a "lost" report with the Brooklyn College Public Safety Office (0202 Ingersoll Hall), and
2) pay a replacement fee of $73.
In the event that a report is not appropriately filed with the Public Safety Office,
and the "lost" permit is not found in the possession of both the user and the authorized owner
will be considered in violation of parking and traffic regulations,
and subject to administrative action, legal action or both.

STOLEN HANGTAG
In the event a hangtag is stolen, the permit holder must:
1) file a report of the theft with the local Police Department where the theft occurred,
2) file a theft report with the Brooklyn College Public Safety Office (on campus).
Upon delivery of a Police Department case number,
the owner will be issued a new permit with payment of a $25 administrative fee.
In the event that a report is not appropriately filed with both
the Police Department and Office of Public Safety, and the "stolen" permit is found in the possession of another,
both the user and authorized owner will be considered in violation of parking and traffic regulations,
and subject to administrative action, legal action, or both.

TRANSFERABILITY
Hangtags are issued for the use of a specific person,
and the specified vehicles registered under that person's name and are not transferable.

PENALTIES
The permit is the property of the college
and is considered an official document within the purview of the New York State Penal Law.
The college may elect to prosecute instances of misuse and tampering through the courts in lieu of,
or in addition to, college disciplinary proceedings and administrative action.
Thefts of permits may be prosecuted under the Law, as well as under college procedures.

SAFEGUARDING
Each person authorized to use a hangtag parking permit assumes responsibility
for safeguarding the hangtag and releases the college, including its Security personnel
and staff of the Bursar or BC Auxiliary Services, from any responsibility for loss or theft.
Inherent in this is the requirement that the authorized vehicle containing the hangtag be locked and secured,
and all windows intact and closed.

DISPLAY
Parking hangtags must be displayed upon entrance to the West Gate.
