Therefore, students majoring in Puerto Rican and Latino Studies only need to complete 39 additional Pathways credits. *The Puerto Rican and Latino Studies major requires that students complete one 4-credit writing intensive course within the categories Literature, Culture and the Arts (PRLS 3315W) or History, Policy and Society (PRLS 3320W). **Students are required to complete one course in Spanish at Level 3 (SPAN 1030 or higher) or to demonstrate an equivalent proficiency by examination. The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied.
