Degree Details

39 Pathways Credits*

28 Major Credits

53 General Elective Credits

Students may apply a second major, or a minor, towards their general elective credits.

120 Total Credits

*The Pathways curriculum is typically 42 credits. However, the Judaic Studies B.A. major includes a course (JUST 2545) that also satisfies a Pathways requirement. Therefore, students majoring in Judaic Studies B.A. only need to complete 39 additional Pathways credits.

The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied.

*Students must choose an additional Ancient or Medieval/Early Modern period JUST course from the following: (Ancient:) JUST 3014, JUST 3015, JUST 3023, JUST 4024, (Medieval/Early Modern :) JUST 3013, JUST 3033, JUST 3035, JUST 3036, JUST 4034; or an appropriate course with approval of the Chair.

**Students must choose an additional Modern period JUST course from the following: JUST 3013, JUST 3016, JUST 3031, JUST 3037, JUST 3047, JUST 3048, JUST 3050, JUST 3115, JUST 3405, JUST 3465, JUST 3485, JUST 3489, JUST 4020, JUST 4054, JUST 4195; or an appropriate course with approval of the Chair.

Please note U.S. and Israel Yeshiva transfer credits will not count toward the major, but the capstone course taken at Brooklyn College by students seeking transfer credits will count toward the major. JUST 2545 and 3025 do not serve as a capstone course.

In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
