*The Pathways curriculum is typically 42 credits. However, the Psychology B.S. major includes a course (PSYC 3400) that also satisfies a Pathways requirement. Therefore, students majoring in Psychology B.S. only need to complete 39 additional Pathways credits.
The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. You are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied. It is a good idea to consult with an advisor when doing so.
Candidates for a B.S. degree in Psychology must complete at least 60 credits in science and mathematics; a minimum of 24 of these 60 credits must be completed in advanced courses in the Psychology Department. These 24 credits must be completed at Brooklyn College with a grade of C- or higher in each course.
In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with an advisor in the Psychology Department to discuss course selections and sequence in relation to their record and goals. While this advice is intended for all students, it is particularly important for transfer students. For transfer students, recommendations for use of the degree map will vary based on their specific record and circumstances. For all students, it is best to review your academic plan with an advisor on a regular basis.
