It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied. *Students must complete four additional advanced RUSS Courses from: RUSS 2021, RUSS 2030W, RUSS 2120W, RUSS 3510, RUSS 3515, RUSS 3520, RUSS 3525. (Students must complete at least one writing intensive course from the above choices, i.e. RUSS 2030W or 2120W.) Students who place out of RUSS 1010, RUSS 1020, and RUSS 1030 due to proficiency, will still need to complete 42 credits of Pathways courses, including 12 credits of College Option. If the student is a native speaker, or has taken advanced courses in high school, the first RUSS course at Brooklyn College should be RUSS 2120W or an equivalent composition course. The student can then take RUSS 2030W the following term. In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
