Degree Details

36 Pathways Credits*

43 Major Credits

41 General Elective Credits

Students may apply a second major, or a minor, towards their general elective credits.

120 Total Credits

*The Pathways curriculum is typically 42 credits. However, the Health and Nutrition Sciences (Concentration in Thanatology) major includes two courses (HNSC 1100 or HNSC 1200, & HNSC 3314) that also satisfy Pathways requirements. Therefore, students majoring in Health and Nutrition Sciences (Concentration in Thanatology) only need to complete 36 additional Pathways credits.

The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied.

*Students must choose a minimum 6 credits from the following courses: HNSC 3171, HNSC 3181, HNSC 3188, HNSC 5390, ART 3151, CLAS 3244, RELG 3035, HIST 3025, PSYC 3260, SOCY 2402

Additionally, candidates for a B.A. degree with a major in Health and Nutrition Science must complete at least 24 credits in Health and Nutrition Science at Brooklyn College with a grade of C or higher in each course and must have an average GPA of 2.80 in HNSC courses.

In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
