It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied. *Students must complete four advanced FREN courses from: FREN 2021, FREN 2030W or 2432, FREN 2120 or 2120W, FREN 3510, FREN 3515, FREN 3520, FREN 3525. (Students must complete at least one writing intensive course from the above choices, i.e. FREN 2030W or 2120W.) Students who place out of FREN 1010, FREN 1020, and FREN 1030 due to proficiency, will still need to complete 42 credits of Pathways courses, including 12 credits of College Option. If the student is a native speaker, or has taken advanced courses in high school, the first FREN course at Brooklyn College should be FREN 2120 or an equivalent composition course. The student can then take FREN 2030W the following term. In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
