*The Pathways curriculum is typically 42 credits. However, the Childhood Education Teacher major includes one course (CBSE 2001) that also satisfies a Pathways requirement. Therefore, students majoring in Childhood Education only need to complete 39 additional Pathways credits.

The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish which courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied.

Students must complete a concentration of at least 30 credits in one of the following disciplines (or have a second major in lieu of a concentration): American Studies, Anthropology & Archaeology, Art, Children's Studies, Classics, Computer and Information Science, English, General Science, Health & Nutrition Sciences, History, Judaic Studies, Mathematics, Modern Languages and Literatures, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Puerto Rican & Latino Studies, Sociology, Theater, Urban Sustainability, Women's & Gender Studies. Students should consult with an advisor from their concentration area regarding specific concentration requirements.

Students must present a G.P.A. of at least 2.70 or higher based on a minimum of 30 credits in liberal arts and science courses for admission into the major. Each education course must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Students must present a G.P.A. of at least 3.00 overall and a G.P.A. of at least 3.00 in education courses prior to student teaching (CBSE 4221.)

In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
