However, the Childhood Education Teacher Bilingual Extension major includes one course (CBSE 2001) that also satisfies a Pathways requirement. Therefore, students majoring in Childhood Education Bilingual only need to complete 39 additional Pathways credits. The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish which courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied. This program is offered to selected students interested in teaching children in Spanish/English bilingual programs to qualify for teacher certification in Spanish/English bilingual education. Students must demonstrate proficiency in English and Spanish. For courses in Spanish, students should consult with the Department of Puerto Rican and Latino Studies. *Students must complete three PRLS Elective courses from the following: PRLS 1001, PRLS 2300, PRLS 2320, PRLS 3105, PRLS 3120, PRLS 3125, PRLS 3205, PRLS 3210, PRLS 3215, PRLS 3220, PRLS 3315W (same as AFST 3240 & CMLT 3623), PRLS 3320W, PRLS 3325, PRLS 4450, PRLS 4510, PRLS 4615, PRLS 4635, PRLS 4640, PRLS 4645. Students must present a G.P.A. of at least 2.70 or higher based on a minimum of 30 credits in liberal arts and science courses for admission into the major. Each education course must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Students must present a G.P.A. of at least 3.00 overall and a G.P.A. of at least 3.00 in education courses prior to student teaching (CBSE 4321). Students must complete a concentration of at least 31 credits in Puerto Rican & Latino Studies Bilingual Extension. Each PRLS course must be completed with a grade of C or higher. **Fingerprint clearance is required for all students enrolling in Education courses.
