*The Pathways curriculum is typically 42 credits. However, the Music Education major includes three courses (MUSC 1300, MUSC 1400, and SEED 2001) that also satisfy Pathways requirements. Therefore, students majoring in Music Education only need to complete 33 additional Pathways credits.

The major recommends foreign language or proficiency in addition to the courses listed above.

Students must have a GPA of 2.70 or higher based on a minimum of 30 credits in liberal arts and sciences to take SEED 2001 and 2002. Students must have a B- in both SEED 2001 and 2002 and a GPA of 2.75 or higher based on a minimum of 30 credits in liberal arts and sciences to continue to SEED 3401, and/or SEED 3402, and/or SEED 3456. Students must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher and permission of the head of the program to take SEED 4413. Students must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher, a B- or better in both SEED 3401 and 3402, and/or permission of the head of the program, to take SEED 4401-4406. Students must earn a B- or higher in SEED 4401-4406, a GPA of 2.75 or higher in their major, and the permission of the head of the program, to take SEED 4407-4412.

All MUSC courses offered to satisfy the requirements for a major in Music must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Music majors must meet with their advisor in the department prior to every semester in order to review their degree progress and to receive registration permissions for their MUSC courses in the following term.

The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied.

In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
