The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. DegreeMaps are a suggested way through the major, but students may have alternate routes depending on their individual situations. Please reach out to the Chair to discuss any specific concerns and to be academically advised: Dr. MJ Robinson, MJ.Robinson29@brooklyn.cuny.edu.

*Students must complete three of the following TVRA platform classes: TVRA 3782, TVRA 3841, TVRA 3891, TVRA 3925, TVRA 3951, TVRA 4040, TVRA 4042, TVRA 4045, TVRA 4173, TVRA 4728.

**Students majoring in Journalism and Media Studies must take six credits of advanced coursework in any department or area other than the Television and Radio department. These credits must be approved by the Director of Journalism and Media Studies.

All courses used to meet the degree requirements for the Journalism and Media Studies major must be completed with a grade of C or higher. No course in this curriculum may be taken more than twice for the purposes of degree advancement.

Students must successfully complete ENGL 1012 or higher with a grade of B or better in order to enroll in any Journalism and Media Studies course above TVRA 1165. Students who receive transfer credit for ENGL 1012 must provide a writing sample for program assessment prior to enrollment in any Journalism and Media Studies course above TVRA 1165.

In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
