*The Pathways curriculum is typically 42 credits. However, the Earth and Environmental Sciences B.S. major includes three courses (EESC 1101, CHEM 1040 or CHEM 1200, BIOL 1001 or PHYS 1100 or PHYS 1150) that satisfy Pathways requirements. Therefore, students majoring in Earth and Environmental Sciences B.S. only need to complete 33 additional Pathways credits.
Candidates for a B.S. degree with a major in earth and environmental sciences must complete at least 60 credits in science and mathematics; 24 of these 60 credits must be completed in advanced courses in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department. These 24 credits must be completed at Brooklyn College with a grade of C- or higher in each course. All required EESC courses numbered 2000 or higher must be completed with a minimum grade of C-.
Students must complete at least 18 credits of EESC Elective 2000-level or higher courses - which may include up to 6 credits from the following: ANTH 2402, ANTH 3440, ANTH 3470, ANTH 3480, ANTH 3250, BIOL 3003, BIOL 3082, BIOL 3083, BIOL 4003, BIOL 4080, CHEM 2500, CHEM 2700, CHEM 3410, CHEM 3420, CHEM 3510 or both CHEM 3511 and CHEM 3512, CHEM 4610, HNSC 2130, PHYS 3500, PHYS 4200.
The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years' time. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied.
In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
EESC 1101 and EESC 1201 can be taken in any order, but both should be finished after the first year.
