However, the Biology Teacher 7-12 major includes four courses (BIOL 1001, CHEM 1100, PHYS 1005 or 1100 or 1150, and SEED 2001) that also satisfy Pathways requirements. Therefore, students majoring in Biology Teacher only need to complete 30 additional Pathways credits. The four-year degree map is designed to help you take the right courses in the right order so you can graduate in four years. It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. Ideally, you should follow the four-year degree map as closely as possible, but you are free to make some adjustments so long as the prerequisite requirements are satisfied. Students must have a GPA of 2.70 or higher based on a minimum of 30 credits in liberal arts and sciences to take SEED 2001 and 2002. Students must have a B- in both SEED 2001 and 2002 and a GPA of 2.75 or higher based on a minimum of 30 credits in liberal arts and sciences to continue to SEED 3401, and/or SEED 3402, and/or SEED 3456. Students who wish to register for student teaching seminar and field placement will need to file an application with the science education program head for permission. See program office for details. To take SEED 4480, students must have an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher and the permission of the Secondary Education science education program head, department chair, or deputy. To take either SEED 4481, 4482, 4483, and/or 4484, students must earn a B+ or higher in SEED 4480, a GPA of 2.75 or higher in their major, and the permission of the Secondary Education science education program head, department chair, or deputy. In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major.
