It also helps you distinguish what courses qualify as Pathways courses, or Major courses, or General Elective courses. DegreeMaps are a suggested way through the major, but students may have alternate routes depending on their individual situations. The department chair or program director may, with the approval of the chair of the department's undergraduate curriculum committee, allow substitutions for one or more required classes consistent with the educational goals of the program. *Students majoring in Television and Radio must take an additional six credits of advanced course work in any department or area other than the departments in the School of Visual, Media, and Performing Arts. These credits must be approved by Television and Radio faculty. In conjunction with the four-year degree map, you should review Degree Works, and the Brooklyn College website, for an approved list of courses in your major. Overall, it is best to review your academic plan with your advisor on a regular basis.
